We use a lot of products that are round in shape. Have you ever thought; how come these products are secured from getting crumbled or squashed? Well, industries are quite smart enough to protect our products. Thus, paper tubes are used. Products like toilet paper, adhesive tapes, etc. are rolled upon these tubes. Just imagine if toilet paper wasn’t rolled on round tubes what would be its condition? We were hardly able to use it. So let’s get to know a little more about paper tubes.

Paper tubes, also known as cardboard tubes are thick cardboard rolls which protect our product from external pressure. They are thick cardboard tubes with high strength specially designed to protect round objects. From chart papers to cable reels and everything in between paper tubes are used for all purposes. Respective of the demand of the consumer, these tubes are available in all dimensions. Some more names for paper tubes are industrial tubes, spiral wound paper cores or fiberboard cores.

There are mainly two types of paper tubes, which include spiral wound and convolute wound paper tubes. Let’s get to know a little more about these two types.

Spiral wound paper tube.
These tubes are made by plies rolled at a 90-degree angle to the tube’s opening. These tubes are used to roll light products such as paper towels, adhesive tapes, etc. These tubes cannot take much pressure on them.

Convolute wound paper tube.
These tubes are made by plies wrapped on top and are made strong enough to take much pressure. They are used to pack perfumes or ancient paintings. These tubes have high-bend strength and have dynamic-resistance.

Now apart from round shape, paper tubes are available in other shapes also. They include shapes like square, oval, hexagonal, triangular, and many more according to the customer’s requirement. These different shapes can be made by a square and oval winding mandrel. Winding mandrel is the machine by which these tubes are made.

Custom shaped tubes are made by a round and square winding mandrel by cutting off the unnecessary part of the tube.

Custom shape tubes are useful for fitting a specific product that cannot be placed in a circle-shaped tube. These custom shaped tubes are used in industries for various purposes to protect their products according to their shape and size. We sometimes cut or eliminate a part of the tube according to our requirements. These pieces if needed can be again attached with the use of tape.

Now, let’s focus on some of the main uses of paper tubes.

Beverage Packaging.
The most useful way to use paper tubes is to pack beverages in the industrial sector. Alcoholic, as well as non-alcoholic beverages, are mainly packed in these tubes.

Adhesive Tapes.
Adhesive tapes are wrapped around a rather small paper tube. This makes it easier for disposal than plastic tubes. These tubes do not need much capital and are easy to produce.

Foil Industry.
Foil industries use paper tubes to roll foils around as it is proven to be eco-friendly.

The biggest advantage of paper tubes is that they are eco-friendly. They can be easily recycled. You can find a lot of things made out of recycled paper tubes on the internet and YouTube. It is also used to store important ancient documents, blueprints, maps, engineering projects, charts, etc. If you ever feel you want to store your child’s drawing for a cherishing memory you can roll it and put it inside a paper tube. These paper tubes and cores are cost effective as well, which means you can never worry about using a lot of them.
